5 ways to use GrooveX on your next track
Tape stops, trance gates, fake sidechain and more — quick moves that make an arrangement breathe.
GrooveX has a lot of slots and it's easy to get lost. Here are five moves we reach for again and again.
1. Tape stop into the drop
Put GrooveX on the master or the music bus and map Tape Stop to a key. Hold it over the last bar before the drop — the track grinds to a halt and the drop hits twice as hard.
2. Trance gate a pad
Long chords turn into a rhythm part with any Trance Gt slot. Lower the gate tension for softer edges, raise it for that choppy, mechanical feel.
3. Sidechain without a sidechain
The Sidechain slot gives you the classic pump on every beat — no routing and no ghost kick. The volume mix knob sets how deep it goes.
4. Stutter fills on the drum bus
Switch to One Shot mode and fire Stutter 1/4 or 1/8 at the end of a phrase. Every hit lands in sync, so fills sound played, not edited.
5. Draw your own
When presets aren't enough, open the envelope editor. Set snap to 1/16, sketch a rhythm with the draw tool, then drag segments to bend the curves.
